You Have A Choice

This song on repeat while literally replacing the foundation walls of our house and preparing for a future marriage built on the word of the Lord; the Bible, the only thing that never fails, the truth useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

Kyle read in his Bible one evening the end of the book of Joshua, chapter 24 where we find a verse you've known and heard...

Joshua 24:15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

We see this verse on Pinterest, display signs of it on our mantle, and know it by heart which is all good (I even made Kyle a keychain with it engraved on it) but when you look at the whole story and read Joshua 24, it becomes so much more real and gives such a deeper context. In Joshua‬ ‭23‬:‭16‬ , Joshua the leader warns the people that if they go against God, his anger will be against them and they will loose the good, content, all-they-need land that they're living in. Then in chapter 24, Joshua gathers all the people of Isreal at 📍Shchemz. Joshua gives a recap of their journey through Egypt and how they got to the place they're at now and the people make a covenant that they will serve the Lord instead of the gods in Egypt and the gods of the Amorites.

And the same is true today, we have a choice. A choice to serve the things of this world or to serve God. A choice to follow what you want or a choice to follow Jesus. A choice of life or death, of freedom or captivity. God gives you a choice and I think that is just so cool. It's not just a God who makes you do things the way he wants, but a loving God that gives you responsibility and a choice.

And now it's up to you. You choose. You have the responsibility, no one is making you but God promises and I can tell you right from my heart to yours, there's such a better, fulfilling, happy life out there when you choose to build it on the Word of the Lord. You have a firm foundation when you choose Jesus. When you choose to build on the Word of the Lord.

Song to Listen To: This House by Anne Wilson 🎶

Verses:

“If you violate the covenant of the Lord your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them, the Lord’s anger will burn against you, and you will quickly perish from the good land he has given you.”” Joshua‬ ‭23‬:‭16‬ ‭

On that day Joshua made a covenant for the people, and there at Shechem he reaffirmed for them decrees and laws.”

‭‭Joshua‬ ‭24‬:‭25‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬
