Front Porch and Landscaping

Updated: Jun 25, 2023

10/24 painted the front door, black and put the handles on

12/2/22 - kyle helped me gather cement blocks from the big pile in the back yard to make a little path from the driveway to garage to house...i love it!

I ripped out some of the porch ceiling to put can lights in.

I dug a little curved sidewalk for the front. I think it'll be so cute but we have to wait till the weather is warmer.

12/16- I installed this porch light by myself during Christmas break! I think it looks nice...hopefully it works when the electric comes back on :)

12/23-

Temps got to -6 all day tdy and the wind was soo bad. My car got stuck in 2 ft of snow on frick road and a tractor came to plow it. So I made it out, thank you Jesus! The front door let in a bunch of cold air and there was snow in our house 🤦‍♀️ we insulated it a little more and put some trim but there's holes in the porch from the electric so all the wind and cold air is just coming right in. It's only cold for 3 days here then it'll be 50 by the end of the week! So we just left it be, gas bill will be a little high ig :)

12/28- we actually found out that there's no insulation in the walls so that didn't help :) also we got the gutters up. The roof and gutters cost $15,340.

1/14- well it's been raining a lot and our yard doesn't do well with that. The driveway needs built up right by the road and we need some underground drain lines. So I made these little extenders from some leftover gutters...God always provides :) the yard is a muddy mess tho. And the sump pump in the back filled with water prob becuase the gutters were draining right into it but at least it works. Kyle used a bucket and scooped it all out so we're for when it rains next :)

1/21/23

Kyle added the outdoor electrical outlet! Yayy!

3-17 - there was a really bad bird nest in the corner of the house, the siding was pushed out. They were all swarming around them. We also have a big flock of Redwing blackbirds migrate and live in our trees, and make everything a mess.

4/20- finally redid the porch with treated woods, cost over $500 but it turned out great with kyle and dad. It looked really cool without railing but we decided to put white railing back up and go with vinyl
